The New Bandana Scarf - Quick and Easy Tutorial

I wear a lot of scarves in the winter, and this year I have started to really enjoy infinity scarves. I found this fabulous fleece remnant at Jo Ann's last year, and because of its awkward size (2' x 5'), I never found a use for it. I recently pulled it out again and decided that it would make a great infinity scarf. That is, until I started to put it together. What I thought would be quick and easy actually wasn't and rather than look up someone else's tutorial, I decided to reinvent the wheel. So instead of an infinity scarf, I have for you: the Bandana Scarf! (And it really is quick and easy!!)

Try this ten minute tutorial for a new scarf- the bandanna scarf!

Start by measuring out your fleece or fabric of choice. You will need a 20" x 20" square. Fold it diagonally so that you have a triangle with the fold at the top.

Next, overlap the two corners of the folded edge by about four inches and use pins to form a triangle. See below.

Use a straight stitch to sew a triangle, stitching the overlapped corners together. This will reinforce the closure for the scarf and leave no flapping edges.

And that's it!! The scarf is now sewn shut in a circle that will fit over your head and sit like a bandana. Adjust the scarf and you are ready to go. I love the tribal print on this fleece, but I'd love to make another bandana scarf in a plaid like this or this.
