As a style blogger, I'm constantly looking at photos of myself and scrutinizing them as I decide which to share and which to delete. It's not the fun part of the job, because I am my own worst critic. I tried out a new color this week. Yes - I branched out of my gray and brown addiction and not only wore a bright color, but I wore one that I never wear: yellow. And I kind of liked it. Red, white and blue is definitely one of my favorite color combinations. I have always loved the American flag and Independence Day. When I was little, I had an American flag swimsuit that I loved and honestly, I still wish that I had one!

I decided to try a faux black dress by pairing a black blouse tucked into my black skirt. Tucking in the top created a fun blouson shape, and I loved the end result. I threw on the tan kimono as an afterthought

A few years back, I found this amazing polyester blend, brush-stroke-printed fabric at a garage sale. I love vintage fabric in general, and when I saw it marked a dollar for multiple yards, I couldn't pass it up.
