Earlier this week I shared my fashion phobias, and in line with that, lately I'm trying to push myself outside of my closet norm. I live for neutrals like black, white, gray, or military green, but lately I'm kinda warming up to navy. I've never owned anything navy until this year when I picked up a classic navy striped tee. Who doesn't love a classic navy stripe? I tried out some navy camo pants and loved them too. So far, so good with the navy. So I when picked out this navy full midi skirt from eShakti I thought it would be a cinch to style.  But when it arrived I thought, 'How do I wear this?' The age old question of what to wear with navy. Brown? Black? I first tried it with a beige scarf and ankle boots and it felt... safe. But what does safe get me?

I decided to try wearing navy with black, a combo that many other bloggers have raved about for months. I added black ankle boots and a black printed scarf to my white sweater and navy skirt. I even threw on a black cuff for good measure. And I think it worked! The white top really helped push me over the edge by brightening up the combination, while the scarf brought it all together.
