A widely discussed trend in magazines and across the blog world this winter is brightly colored coats. When I want to wear a coat to stay warm, I'll always pick my North Face parka. But if I'm looking to make a fashion statement while bundled, a colored coat is the way to go. I thrifted this Forever 21 coat last month to wear to my husband's Christmas party. I love that it has a cape feel but still functions as a coat. I have been wearing red a lot this year, so naturally I gravitated to a classic red coat. I've also seen really pretty coats in blue, emerald, or white. And how gorgeous would a plum or fuchsia coat be? This trend will still be going strong next winter, so keep an eye out during the clearance sales this month and next. Pick a color that you gravitate toward and get ready to pair it with printed scarves that coordinate.

Do you own a brightly colored coat? If so, what color do you have? If not, what color are you hunting for?
