InstaFriday: Memorial Day Starts Off the Summer

Every Friday you can catch up a little on what our family has been up to via the cell phone pics. This really is the best way to stay current since my cell phone is what I tend to use for most photo ops these days! You can follow along daily on Instagram at @onelittlemomma.

UPDATE: As you can see- our little one has arrived! I will post details soon, but just wanted to sneak in between my prescheduled posts and keep you updated! I'll let you read on about our last week, but just know that we DID have a baby and we are doing great! Stay current with us by following on Instagram or FB!

Now back to what was already scheduled.....

Well as you are reading this, today is my due date.  I may or may not still be pregnant. As I blog ahead,  I'm still here and have had a chocolate shake from McDonalds for the last two days in a row as a consolation prize. I actually feel pretty good, but the waiting is getting old. Every night I freak myself out thinking that this is the day so I clean and clean and get things ready- and then nothing happens. Well I should say no baby comes. I am actually getting a ton of things done while I freak out.

I’m not sure about where you live, but we have had an awfully late start to Summer. The weather keeps flip flopping between rain and sun, hot and cold. I am pretty grateful for the cooler temps because my ankles swell up like crazy in the heat! Thankfully we had a fantastic Memorial Day weekend and couldn’t have asked for better weather. We kicked things off by going to the pool on opening day. I stuck my feet in and the kids swam with Dad and Grandpa. They had a blast even though the water was FRIGID.

On Sunday after church we went to one of my favorite traditions of the year- a Memorial Day Concert in the park at Union Station. The Kansas City Symphony plays and they do military tributes. The Mayor speaks and the shoot off cannons. Then there is a fantastic fireworks show above the WWI monument. I love it because we always go with my family and some friends, take yummy snacks, the kids play on the lawn and the weather is perfect. It was the last thing I wanted to for sure make it to before the baby came. And we made it! The only I didn’t expect was how many stares and looks I would get. Apparently I looked pretty pregnant because EVERY SINGLE PERSON I walked past looked at my belly. A little awkward.

We had a blast though and I can’t wait to go again next year!

In case you missed it last week, I finally finished the nursery. Never mind that the little guy won’t be sleeping in there for months- I feel great having it done. I love it so much I might just move in there. Now the rest of my house needs to catch up with its coolness.
