BIO

Hi, I'm Kilee. I am a wife, momma, and business owner living outside of Kansas City, Missouri. I'm a Kansas City native, and we love living in the Midwest. I love the color green, cacti and succulents, gray tee shirts and ripped denim, and my family. My favorite doughnut is lemon filled, and my preferred drink is milk. Yes, I've even been one to order milk at a restaurant. At a table full of adults.

My first and favorite job is being a mom of five amazing boys. They range from 9 years to 9 months, and they are my '"why." They are why I work so hard, why I get so much done, why I try to be better every day, and why I am who I am.
Easton is our super obedient and helpful first child, and Kesler is our firecracker who feels everything with passion. Knox is our easygoing guy who is always happy, and Baker is our crazy one full of energy and goofiness. Rush was born with a cleft palate and a cleft lip and has been through a lot in his first year of life- yet he is our happiest little guy. They are all my favorite.

My day job is running a business called Nickel & Suede full time with my husband. We sell leather earrings and other accessories with the mission to help women take risks and try new things. Nickel & Suede was started with the idea of big earrings that are actually comfortable and that instantly create confidence.
We launched N&S four and a half years ago and we've worked together every day since. Soren is my other half in every way, and neither of us can get anything done (and especially done well!) without the other. We've had to learn to work together, but now I wouldn't have it any other way. We love to travel together, go to concerts, and watch videos of our kids after they go to bed.

I blog because I love to blog. This space is my personal creative outlet where I can share my thoughts, my style, my struggles, and our life. I first aim to be authentic, and I try to walk the line between relatable and inspirational. I always try to share real-life stories and struggles in a way that gets women saying, “Me, too!” I also love to play personal shopper and hopefully help you shop for clothes that you and I love.
Between my blog, my business, and my personal life, I get to wear many hats, including those of marketer, stylist, designer, personal shopper, writer, and more. I can't believe all of the things I've learned along this journey of blogging and now owning a business. I would describe my style as edgy and fashion forward, but also simple, so it’s easily incorporated into most women’s closets. I love camo and ripped denim, but I also love a beautiful lace top or pleated skirt. Makeup and hair products are also something I get excited about, so I'll often share tutorials for styling short hair or doing everyday makeup on my social channels and on the blog.

More about us...
I grew up in Kansas City, then went to college in Utah, where I met my husband, Soren (great story for another day). We got married, and I graduated with a degree in nutritional science. We found out soon after I graduated that we were pregnant with our first little guy, Easton. That scrapped my plans of a master's degree in dietetics AND turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to us!
We lived in Seattle for two and a half years after college, and it wasn't ever the right fit for us. We wanted to love it, but the darkness and being away from all family and friends was really hard on me. The bright part was that we became parents twice in that time. When Easton was 17 months old, Baby #2, Kesler, was born, and we started seriously looking at moving closer to family. By divine intervention, we found a great job and a perfect house. We moved 10 minutes away from my family before Kesler turned two months old. We have lived in Liberty, Missouri, since January 2011, and it has been wonderful for us. We welcomed our third little guy, Knox, in 2013 and Baker in 2015. Rush is the caboose and was born in February 2018. We are DONE with me being pregnant, but I won't throw adoption out quite yet!
