One of the items in my closet that I miss the most in hot Summer months is my denim jacket.  I still try to get away with wearing one, but it's usually too hot from June until August here in Missouri. In fact, I just bought this denim jacket (in the darker color) last week to add my collection, even though it will still be too hot to wear it for a few more weeks. But since I love adding some denim to any outfit- I've found three ways to substitute a denim jacket during the hotter months when I'm not willing to stay indoors or sweat it out.
1. A Chambray Shirt. Wearing a chambray shirt open and loose over a tee is a lighter weight way to fake a denim jacket. This is still adding a layer to an outfit, but depending on the weight of your chambray, it should be cooler than a jacket. You can also tie it around your waist so that you get the look, but not the extra layer. Try the look above with shorts or a skirt for an even cooler outfit.
2. A Denim Vest. A denim vest is definitely a great substitute for a denim jacket. Pair it with a Summer dress, knit pants or chino shorts and a tee.
3. A Denim Bag. I haven't seen many of these that I approve of, but I found this clutch the other day and couldn't leave the store without it. It may be denim, but I love the print on it and this size clutch is my favorite style.
