Easy DIY Paper Leaves Garland for Fall

I really love having a chalkboard in our kitchen. It comes in handy so often and it is also a fun space to decorate. I have been looking for a fun garland to hang there as I decorate for Fall, but haven't found one yet. I love to create something if I can't find it so I grabbed some paper and started cutting.

I made this garland in under an hour with just some colored paper, hot glue and twine. First I cut out two or three leave shapes to serve as my patterns.

I traced my patterns on the paper. The papers all had a different finish or texture to them and no leave turned out the same which was exactly what I wanted.

After I had my pile of leaves, I hung my red twine across my chalkboard where I wanted it to hang. Then I dabbed hot glue on each stem one at a time and placed it on the twine. I layered the colors to add dimension. It worked best to hang the twine before I glued so that the garland didn't become stuck to the surface I was crafting on.

As I went I cut extra leaves when I needed more of another color or shape. I added some gold leaves in at the end for a little unexpected texture and shine.

The ends of the garland needed a little something extra so I cut and tied some wide orange ribbon bows on each end. I love how it turned out! It feels really festive and unique and it's perfect for the space!
