SNAP Day 3: Outfits and Lessons Learned (Handmade Business and SEO)
Tee: Target Men’s (altered here), Sweater: Forever 21, Pants and Shoes: Old Navy
Day three at my blogging conference called for more comfortable clothing. I took a break from the wedges during the day and wore my favorite sweater of all time. It ended up being rainy that day so this outfit worked great. We had classes ALL day so I split them up into two posts to make them a little more digestible.
(I realize that if you don’t blog or own a handmade business then the class info that I will be sharing this week won’t too applicable. But I’ll have an outfit post each day so feel free to skip the info and just pin the outfit.)
Running a Handmade Business
*Make a plan- where do you want to go?
*Secure money as a cushion and keep a cushion.
*Hire someone to make product for you. Stay in the USA.
*Find your own space on the internet and brand yourself.
*Have a true product, true business sense and be authentic.
*Get professional photos including a ‘money shot’ which can be used in with your branding.
*Give. Give a lot to charity and auctions. Any giving will come back ten fold.
*Change your mindset. There will be copycats and knock offs. Don’t sweat the small stuff.
How to Make Google Love your Blog
*Google is math. The basic formula for Google loving your blog is (High Quality Score) + (Effective Keywords) + (Links and Shares) = LOVE
*A good quality score is a low number of broken links, no bad links, and a good user experience.
*Google is always ranking you against other people that are the same as you.
*Using key words well means using key words that make sense in your title. An interesting title that also uses key words is best.
*Be very descriptive as you write your post. The more correct descriptive words the better.
*Rename your images as you save them to the computer with key words.
*Tag your posts with relevant tags and be sure they show at the bottom of each post.
This week you will be reading info on the rest of my classes. I'll update these links as the posts go live this week.
