ABC Burlap Pillow- {Nursery Notes}
Burlap is so big right now. I know- it is so darn trendy, but I still just love it. I picked up some of this alphabet print burlap on a whim and once I started the nursery, I knew just what to do with it. This was a simple and quick project, but that is how I do things so I wanted to share the idea!
Supplies: 1 yd printed burlap (or as much as will cover your pillow)
1 pillow to recover (we had an old feather pillow that worked perfectly)
I folded the burlap in half to find the middle. Then to start the burlap with a straight edge I pulled out one vertical thread of the burlap very carefully. This gave me a straight line to cut.
I then had two rectangles that easily fit around my pillow form. With right sides together I sewed down one edge with just a straight stitch. Then I slid the pillow in and pinned the two sides shut with enough give to get the pillow back out, but still snug.
Next I sewed those pinned edges and turned the case right side out. I slipped the pillow in and pinned the last edge shut.
To close the pillow I used an invisible stitch (or ladder stitch) to close it off.
