Entryway Bench Makeover- Easy Update with New Fabric
Last year, before starting this blog, I found a home project that I just loved! Someone had made over a gun cabinet into an entryway bench. Since we don’t have a mudroom, I thought this would be a great alternative to put at the top of our entryway stairs. I hunted Craig's List for a $15 wood gun cabinet and had Soren pick it up. We (well, mostly he) took the doors off and cut out the gun racks and added a shelf.
We also re-stained it when I couldn’t decide on whether to paint it or not. The last element was the cushion. The rest of the space wasn't decorated yet so it was hard to commit to a fabric. We used an old floral pillow case for a temporary cushion cover. It worked.
Fast forward a year later, and I was ready for a cute fabric. I picked up this green and white home décor fabric on sale at Joann's and Easton and I went to work. We pulled out the cushion and cut the fabric to shape. I pulled and stapled and he hammered the staples in. It took maybe 10 minutes.
I made this burlap monogram pillow last year and had it in another room. I thought it went well with the new fabric so we brought it out. I am still hoping to paint my walls this year and want to do more with the décor on top of the cabinet, but I do love this quick upgrade on an old project!
